In the hills of northern Thailand, far from the tourist trails of Chiang Mai, there's a place where young girls who have nowhere else to turn are finding safety, love, and a future. It's called Daughters of Ruth — and it's one of the most remarkable ministries Asian Christian Mission supports.
A Place of Refuge
Daughters of Ruth is an orphanage in Chiang Mai that serves at-risk girls between the ages of 8 and 18. Many of these girls come from families shattered by imprisonment, addiction, or abandonment. Some were at risk of trafficking. Without intervention, their futures were uncertain at best.
At Daughters of Ruth, they find something different: a clean bed, a warm meal, an education, and a community that loves them. Most importantly, they find the love of Christ — not as an abstract idea, but as a daily, lived reality.
Self-Sustaining and Spirit-Led
What makes this ministry especially remarkable is that it's largely self-sustaining. Through careful stewardship and creative enterprise, the orphanage has built systems that allow it to continue operating even when outside funding fluctuates. The girls learn practical skills alongside their academic studies, preparing them for independence and purpose.
Education as Empowerment
Every girl at Daughters of Ruth attends school. For many, it's the first time they've had consistent access to education. They're learning to read, to think critically, and to dream about what their lives could become. Some are excelling academically. Others are discovering talents in music, art, or leadership. All of them are learning that they have value — that they are seen and loved by God.
The Ripple Effect
The impact of Daughters of Ruth extends far beyond the walls of the orphanage. Girls who graduate from the program carry their faith and their skills into their communities. They become leaders, mentors, and advocates. They break cycles of poverty and exploitation — not just for themselves, but for the generations that follow.
When you support ACM, you're helping keep places like Daughters of Ruth alive — places where the most vulnerable find hope, and where the love of Jesus transforms everything.
